The Improbable Existence of Life After Divorce

Boy, that title is a mouthful! Which is why I’ve decided this book baby needs a nickname. Meet TIE of LAD!

Until now, I’ve never published a comedy. But writing TIE of LAD was so much fun that I’ve been wondering, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?!” The tone is completely different than my first 5 novels. It’s quirky and wryly charming and lighthearted—the perfect way to handle a topic which has the propensity to get really heavy.

Is this book really about divorce?

Yes, and no. On the one hand, Russell Brown (the protagonist) is suffering the consequences of his own foolish actions, namely, his wife wants nothing to do with him. But on the other hand, he’s completely come to terms with his own idiocy, and he’s not going to stand idly watching as his life (and his ex’s) falls apart. He’s on a mission to repair what he’s destroyed!

So how is that funny?

In and of itself, this scenario would be as humorous as a colonoscopy. However, when you throw in a colorful cast of supporting characters (including some redneck cousins and a sarcastic Aussie physicist) and you mix in some absurd elements (a broken time machine, a freeze-dried body, and an improbable moneymaking scheme), you get a delightfully humorous tale that’ll keep you laughing until the curtainfall.

But who’s going to like a book like this?

Glad you asked. TIE of LAD will only appeal to those who enjoy laughing and rooting for the underdog. Not for you? Then pass the word on to a friend with a better sense of humor.

The Improbable Existence of Life After Divorce releases March 12!
